Lawton Animal Welfare

All of the staff is kind and helpful. They are really understaffed there, so it was great to see volunteers walking the dogs. Definitely be patient with the staff and take that into consideration! They are very kind and patient if you are understanding. I would recommend doing any extra paper work after adopting in person and keeping a copy of whatever documents you agree to. I adopted a puppy and he had kennel cough. I am sure any dog you get from here will probably be a little sick... Think about it, they are in a kennel where they do everything. So, adopt your new animal, take it to the vet, and hope for the best! My sweet pup will hopefully make a quick recovery and live a great life. Thank you for doing all you can LAW

I had found out about a dog in the Lawton animal shelter and that was going to be euthanized within 72 hours. My mother (57) and myself (36) drove 4 hours to Lawton Oklahoma to save this dog. After paying all fees and providing sufficient “shot records” and “RABIES” records we ended up keeping the dog and falling in love with her. The dog was 35 lbs and torn to hell after being on the streets of Lawton where she had been adopted by Lawton Oklahoma residents. 6 months after having her the city of Lawton sends me a court summons stating she didn’t have sufficient shot records to the cities ordnance. (I live 300 miles away in Frisco Texas). After sending “Penny Wolf” several rabies records and certificates, and after being told she would handle the rest with the courts seeing she is the one who filed the charge left me hanging. Now I am to spend money on an attorney trying to get this matter resolved or they will issue a warrant for my arrest. My mother and I own a small business ourselves and had just lost my grandmother. A good deed turns out to be a horrible nightmare with the city of Lawton Oklahoma and the one person who can make it go away is making it as difficult as she could possibly be. I encourage anyone that wants to adopt a dog through their shelter to get an attorney or to throughly read through their fine print. Penny Wolf does not have the animals best interest at heart and neither does the Lawton courts. It’s all about money and the courts couldn’t even tell me the actual charge. I will update with information for everyone to take into consideration as to how this pans out. My family who are huge animal lovers are extremely disappointed and disgusted with this situation! We adopted this little girl from here Her name is Molly we got her in 2015 .she has her forever home with me . She is very loving good girl . Full of energy. She will keep you on your toes .Molly is the pup that is black and white. Penny is the pup that is light colored. She was a very good pup that loved her mom . She was the best pup in the world to me . She is missed by all that knew her .they have alot of babies here that need a forever home . Come by here and see . You may find a great best friend here
